2020 SGL Workshop RECAP
WINTER 2019 - 18 JAN 2020I. FACING THE CULTURAL CHALLENGE
Using Robert Wuthnow’s “Sharing The Journey” introduction as food for thought, we realize we need:
- ONE CONVICTION that addresses reconceived community: EXHORTING COMMUNITY IS THE PRESCRIPTION FOR SIN’S HEART CONDITION (HEB 3:12-13)
- ONE CHIEF END that addresses redefined spirituality: MATURE FROM “MILK-TO-MEAT” (HEB 5:12-14)
- ONE IDENTITY…that brings it together: HOPE SMALL GROUPS ARE UNITED COMMUNITIES THAT PUT OFF THE OLD AND PUT ON THE NEW (EPH 4)
Practical Application:
- Formative Practice: Use Commitment months to review CONVICTION, CHIEF END and IDENTITY
- Corrective Practice: 3 progressive steps for dealing with commitment and attendance issues: TEACH, CORRECT, REPROVE (2 Tim 3:16)…with complete patience (2 Tim 4:2). See slides linked at the bottom for more detail.
